Remzije Sherifi Receives OBE

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Remzije Sherifi, of Bearsden, on being appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in The King’s New Year’s Honours list for services to refugee integration in Glasgow; acknowledges the work that Remzije, commonly known as Rema, carried out in running the Maryhill Integration Network (MIN) before retiring in 2021, which allowed people from around the world to come together through award-winning dance and music projects; thanks Rema for her 20 years of service at MIN, as well as the other community projects that she has been involved with since arriving in Glasgow as a refugee in 1999, and wishes Rema all the best for the future as MIN carries on her work in helping asylum seekers and refugees from across Greater Glasgow to fully integrate into society.
