Ayrshire’s KO-NEKT Secures Scottish Edge Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Marianne Greenway, CEO of the Ayrshire-based business, KO-NEKT, on it winning £60,000 in the social enterprise category at the Scottish Edge awards; notes that Scottish Edge is a funding competition to identify and support innovative, high-growth potential entrepreneurial talent across Scotland; understands that KO-NEKT is a childcare facility offering day and evening support for children and young people with special educational needs (SEN) or autism spectrum disorder (ASD); acknowledges that the business first opened in 2017 in Ardrossan before expanding to Ayr in 2019; understands that Marianne has developed the concept of a social franchise, which she plans to expand to further areas; considers that the award is a crucial step for Marianne’s plans to boost her KO-NEKT across Scotland campaign, working with other social champions to open a KO-NEKT in every Scottish town; commends her for all her work in using her 31 years’ experience of developing childcare services to support ASD/SEN young people, as well as training residents across Ayrshire to gain skills required to work in similar organisations, and wishes her well with her campaign going forward.
