Three Fife High Schools Benefit from ExxonMobil STEM Donation

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes news that ExxonMobil’s Fife Ethylene Plant has made a donation of £8,000 each to Beath, Lochgelly and St Columba’s High School in Dunfermline; believes that the funding aims to encourage the promotion of the teaching of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects in schools; understands that the schools have already used the funds to increase STEM participation in the classroom, with Beath High School using the funds to purchase and install six brand new SMART boards, which are aimed at making learning more interactive for pupils, Lochgelly High School using the donation to put towards STEM-related school visits and materials for a plastic moulding machine, and St Columba’s High School using the money to participate in FIRST Tech regional competitions; considers that the three high schools are the main link schools to the Mossmorran plant, and wishes all pupils and staff the very best as they try to encourage STEM participation in their respective schools.
