Kilmartin Glen Makes New York Times 52 Top Places List

The motion

That the Parliament commends The New York Times for including one of Scotland's most important historic sites, Kilmartin Glen, in its top 52 places to visit in its 2023 list; recognises the many archaeological monuments in Kilmartin Glen, which, it understands, make the area one on the most significant prehistoric sites in Britain; notes what it sees as the incredible work of Kilmartin museum, which is due to re-open later in 2023, in ensuring that the stories of ancient Argyll and of the region's natural treasures are accessible to all; considers the substantial impact of the restoration of Kilmartin Castle, which is now a boutique hotel offering visitors a unique stay in a castle steeped in history, and hopes that this recognition will aid the continued growth of tourism in Kilmartin.
