Newtyle Butcher Named World Scotch Pie Champion for Fourth Time

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Newtyle butcher, James Pirie and Son, on winning the top prize at the World Championship Scotch Pie Awards; recognises that this is the fourth time they have come out on top after wins in 2018, 2020 and 2021; acknowledges that their sausage roll has also been named best in Scotland this year; wishes Alan Pirie all the best on his planned retirement after 57 years as a butcher, and commends him on his many achievements and accolades over these years, in which the local community has shared; further commends the three other Angus award recipients, WeeCOOK, Keptie Bakery and DH Robertson, and notes what it sees as the wider community benefit of such successes.
