National Lottery Heritage Fund Awards Grant to the Elyza Fraser Mausoleum

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes that the National Lottery Heritage Fund has awarded a grant of £80,246 to restore the Elyza Fraser Mausoleum; acknowledges that the Mausoleum is named after Elyza Fraser, one of the first female lairds in Scotland, and has become a symbol of the cultural and architectural heritage of the North East Scotland region; notes that the Mausoleum is located in the Cluny Kirkyard at the heart of Donside and was designed by the Jacobite architect, James Byres, in 1808; understands that the restoration of the Elyza Fraser Mausoleum is a 12-month project that aims to engage the community and is run by the North East Scotland Preservation Trust; notes that the National Lottery Heritage Fund is an individual charity, using money raised by National Lottery players; commends the National Lottery Heritage Fund for its charitable work to support Scotland’s diverse heritage, and wishes the Friends of Miss Elyza Fraser’s Mausoleum all the best with the project.
