Castle Douglas Butcher Success in World Scotch Pie Awards
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Ballards Butchers following its incredible success at the World Championship Scotch Pie Awards, where the Castle Douglas-based business, first established in 1879, won a total of six honours after impressing the judges at this culinary showpiece event for butchers and bakers, to outperform its rivals in the pastry stakes; notes that Jimmy Craig and his team took gold awards for their mince bridie, ploughman’s pinwheel and haggis, neeps and tattie pie, gained silver awards for their chicken korma pie and macaroni pie, while the brisket pie claimed a bronze; praises the butchers for its dedicated use of local produce, and wishes the business continued success in the future.
