New Cumnock Primary Named Climate Change Champion

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates New Cumnock Primary School on winning the Climate Change Champion award at the East Ayrshire Youth Awards 2023 in recognition of its green work; notes that the awards ceremony was held at the Park Hotel, Kilmarnock, and was organised by young people, alongside East Ayrshire Council’s Vibrant Communities Service; understands that this was the first East Ayrshire Youth Awards to be held since 2018, due to the COVID-19 pandemic; further understands that this year’s Awards received over 150 nominations; acknowledges that New Cumnock Primary was awarded its fifth Green Flag Award by Eco-Schools Scotland, for its environmental efforts, in November 2022; understands that there are seven elements of the Eco-Schools programme that must be achieved to receive a Green Flag Award; believes that being awarded a fifth Green Flag and winning the Climate Change Champion award shows the versatility and commitment of the school's pupils and staff; commends New Cumnock Primary for all its hard work, and wishes it all the best and continued success.
