The motion

That the Parliament notes that March 2023 is Brain Tumour Awareness Month, a month dedicated to supporting, empowering, and amplifying the voices of people with brain tumours across Scotland; understands that brain tumours are the biggest killer of children and people under 40 with cancer; further understands that Brain Tumour Research has, in the past 12 years, provided funding in excess of £15 million to early-stage science and continues to support sustainable research across the UK, raise awareness of brain tumours, and campaign for better outcomes; recognises the great work of researchers, such as Professor Steven Pollard and Professor Neil Carragher at the University of Edinburgh, and Professor Anthony Chalmers at the University of Glasgow, in developing novel treatments for glioblastoma, the most common malignant brain tumour, and notes what it sees as the importance of scientists in Scotland being able to access further funding, including National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) funding, in order to continue this vital work.
