Aldi Stores in Aberdeen and Too Good To Go Partnership
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes a newly-launched partnership between Aldi stores in Aberdeen and the world’s largest surplus food platform, Too Good To Go, which aims to cut down on food waste by offering “magic bags” for £3.30, filled with food approaching its sell-by date; understands that these bags will enable shoppers to get £10 worth of food for less than a third of the price; notes the hope that the nationwide roll-out will save an additional 4,000 tonnes of food from going to waste each year; commends the fact that Aldi stores in Aberdeen will continue to donate surplus food to local causes throughout the year in addition to the partnership, and looks forward to seeing the results of the scheme.
