Snowdrop Cafe Donates £3,000 to Local Charities

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Snowdrop Cafe in Polmont on raising £3,000 for local charities; understands that the Snowdrop Cafe began as a joint venture between Polmont Old Parish Church, Polmont Community Council and Strathcarron Hospice; further understands that the Café aims to help all people in the community who are experiencing isolation and loneliness, following the COVID-19 pandemic, giving them a place to socialise and meet fellow community members; understands that, initially, tea and biscuits were offered, but that, following the extensive efforts of Helen Watson, Alice Cumming, Janice Morrison, Grace Brown, Louisa McGrandles, Rosemary Taylor and Rona Wearing, the Snowdrop Cafe now also provides hot soup and home baking; further understands that the café is free for everyone in the community, with a donation box available for those who wish to donate what they can; understands that, since its launch in March 2022, the Snowdrop Cafe has given regular donations of £200 to a variety of local charities, including Maggie’s Forth Valley, Trussell Trust Falkirk Foodbank, Strathcarron Hospice, Meadowbank Car 4U, Braes Storehouse, Salvation Army Maddiston, Scott Martin Foundation, Falkirk Young Carers, Polmont Old Parish Church and the Freedom of Mind Choir; congratulates the Snowdrop Cafe on its fundraising and efforts to reduce social isolation, and wishes it all the best for the future.
