Belmont Academy Recognised as a Reading School by the Scottish Book Trust

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Belmont Academy in Ayr on receiving the Reading Schools accreditation; notes that Reading Schools is an accreditation programme, run by the Scottish Book Trust, for schools that are committed to building a reading culture for their learners and communities; understands that the school was awarded this accolade after it got involved in a series of reading activities, which included audiobooks and health and wellbeing research challenges; further understands that the activities were set up by the school’s Reading Leadership Group, which is made up of staff and pupils from S1 to S6; commends the teachers, staff and pupils at Belmont Academy for this fantastic achievement, and wishes everyone the very best in their future studies.
