MV Biter Tragedy, River Clyde, Greenock
The motion
That the Parliament expresses its sorrow at the deaths of Ian Catterson and GeorgeTaft, who tragically lost their lives after their tugboat, MV Biter, capsized on the River Clyde at East India Harbour, Greenock, on 24 February 2023, and sends itsmost heartfelt condolences to their families and friends; understands that MV Biter was escorting the MV Hebridean Princess cruise ship into Greenock at the time of the incident, and pays tribute to theemergency services for what it considers to be their incredible efforts inconducting an extensive and thorough multi-agency search and rescue operation,including Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, Royal National LifeboatInstitution, and HM Coastguard, which deployed a helicopter from Prestwickand rescue teams from Helensburgh and Greenock to assist with the rescueoperation.
