The motion

That the Parliament welcomes Scottish Apprenticeship Week, which will run from 6 to 10 March 2023; understands that the annual campaign aims to shine a light on the vital role apprenticeships play in supporting people, employers and the economy; acknowledges that the week-long event also aims to encourage more employers to take on apprentices and more young people to consider an apprenticeship; understands that Skills Development Scotland, which co-ordinates the campaign, would like everyone with a shared interest in the success of apprenticeships and work-based learning to get involved; notes that the theme will be "unlocking potential" highlighting the potential that it believes apprenticeships offer to individuals, businesses and the economy; considers that the range of apprenticeships continue to grow, with, it understands, an increase in foundation apprenticeships for school pupils and graduate apprenticeships for employees, alongside the growing numbers of modern apprenticeships, and encourages anyone eligible or interested to get involved with the awareness week.
