Wishing a Happy Vaisakhi to All Sikhs in Scotland, the UK and Around the World

The motion

That the Parliament wishes all Sikhs in Scotland, the UK and around the world a Happy Vaisakhi 2023; notes that the largest festival in the Sikh calendar will be celebrated on 14 April 2023; further notes that celebrations will be held across Scotland in Gurdwaras, which will be accompanied by flag raising ceremonies; acknowledges the positive contributions of Sikhi and that of the Khalsa order, created by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699, and understands that Vaisakhi is a time to recognise the values at the heart of Sikhism, which are equality, community, generosity, honesty, and seva, which means selfless service to others.
