The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Royal Regiment of Scotland on the successful undertaking of the inaugural SCOTS Rally, which took place in Edinburgh over the weekend of 24 to 26 March 2023; understands that many members of the regiment, both serving and veterans, rallied over the weekend with colleagues, former colleagues and partners at a series of events, which included an Officers' Black Hackle Dinner at The Royal Scots Club, an All Ranks Function in the Presidential Suite of BT Murrayfield Stadium, Colonel of the Regiment's brief and lunch with the antecedent Regimental Association Presidents, a Regimental History Day at Edinburgh Castle, and culminated in a muster on Edinburgh Castle Esplanade for a march down the Royal Mile, led by the Pipes and Drums of the 2nd Battalion, Royal Highland Fusiliers, the Regimental Band and Association standards for a service at the Regimental Canongate Kirk to remember the 23 soldiers, who, it understands, have lost their lives on Operations since the regiment was first formed on 28 March 2006, and wishes all ranks and veterans of the Royal Regiment of Scotland well for what is hoped will become an annual occasion to mark the formation day of the most senior, and only, Scottish line infantry regiment in the British Army.
