The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Perthshire South and Kinross-shire businesses, Ardoch Hebridean Sheep, by Kinross, Summer Harvest rapeseed oil by Madderty, and Allan’s Chilli Products by Abernethy for their inclusion in the updated 2023 edition of Scottish Food Guide; understands that Scotland’s Food Guide is the work of highly respected campaigner for local sustainable food production, Wendy Barrie, and is an ethical and independent award-winning guide to Scotland’s best places to eat, finest produce and food experiences; notes the opinion of the guide that states, Ardoch Hebridean Sheep by Kinross is where Jack and Morna Cuthbert rear impressive Hebrideans, a native heritage breed famed for their fine black wool and delicious flavour; further notes that Summer Harvest rapeseed oil by Madderty is recommended Big County producer where Mark and Maggie Bush environmentally press fine rapeseed oil, and that Allan’s Chilli Products by Abernethy are famed for producing a homemade range of tasty jams and jellies made with natural ingredients, and understands that some are homegrown, while others are sourced at farmers’ markets that the husband and wife team attend; celebrates the inclusion of a further three producers in the Perthshire North constituency, Birken Tree, near Dunkeld, Cairn O’Mohr by Errol and The Shop at Ballintaggart, all of which, it believes, help to further identify Perthshire as a county worthy of its leading reputation as a foodie destination, and wishes all the businesses continued success in the future.
