Sir Boyd Tunnock Launches Female Duo's Atlantic Charity Fundraiser
The motion
That the Parliament recognises Scotland’s top baker, Sir Boyd Tunnock, on supporting a local charity fundraiser; notes that rowers, Sabrina Simpson and Leanne Maiden, are taking on a 3,000 mile rowing challenge across the Atlantic in the hope of raising £200,000 for three charities, The Woman’s Fund for Scotland, The Polar Academy and The Mabel Foundation; further notes that the famous baker launched the vessel, named Lemarac, at the firms factory in Uddingston; recognises that the duo will start this challenge on 12 December 2023, starting at La Gomera and finishing in Antigua, and congratulates the pair on so far raising £75,000 from a range of sponsors and donors, including Tunnock's.
