GoFibre Closing Fife Digital Divide

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the reported announcement that residents and businesses across Fife are to benefit from future-proof digital connectivity as a new full fibre broadband network expands across the area; believes that this is thanks to investment by Scottish independent broadband builder and provider GoFibre; understands that more than 12,600 residents and businesses across Cupar, Cardenden and Burntisland can now access what it considers is the best type of digital connectivity; further understands that the network is set to expand further, with construction getting underway in Newport and Tayport, which, when complete, will be able to connect approximately 3,400 more local residents and businesses to the power of full fibre; considers that this expansion across Fife is a significant step forward in what it understands is GoFibre’s aim to close the digital divide across rural areas, and believes that the GoFibre network is already bringing transformational broadband speeds to residents and businesses.
