The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Callander’s McLaren High School team on winning the 2023 Stirling Schools Golf League; understands that the Stirling Schools Golf League, which concluded on 29 March 2023, is organised and hosted by Active Stirling, and welcomed 18 pupils from Stirling, Dunblane, McLaren, Balfron and St Modan’s High Schools, to go head-to-head at three local courses at Dunblane, Balfron and Callander Golf Clubs; notes that, over four months, the young golfers competed in a fourball match play format with the winners of each match receiving two points for their school, or one point if the match finished all square; understands that, going into the final matchday, only two points separated four schools, with the competition going all the way to the final match with McLaren High School winning both its matches to win the league by one point; further understands that the 2023 Stirling Schools Golf League has been described as being a remarkable success with what has been also described as "brilliant golf" being played across the matches; agrees with the sentiment that it has been fantastic to see so many young, talented golfers across the Stirling area competing and representing their schools; expresses gratitude to Dunblane, Balfron, and Callander Golf Clubs for hosting each matchday, and commends the competitors for such excellent representation of their schools.
