Congratulating Wendy Hisbent for Services to School Sports

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Wendy Hisbent on being named runner-up in the Fife Active Services to School Sport Award at the 2023 Kirkcaldy and Central Fife Sports Council Awards; acknowledges that the Active Schools service aims to provide more and higher-quality opportunities to take part in sport and physical activity before school, during lunchtime and after school, and to develop effective pathways between schools and sports clubs in the local community; believes that this award marks dedication and commitment to supporting or volunteering in school sport by an individual, club, organisation or group; recognises that, since 2021, Wendy has volunteered as a dance coach, delivering twice-weekly ballet classes for kids in P1 to P4 at Dysart Primary School, providing opportunities for pupils who, without her, may not otherwise have them; notes the feedback from the school about the increased levels of confidence in pupils, which has impacted positively on concentration levels, classroom conduct and educational attainment; understands that the pupils' recent participation in the Fife 678 Dance Festival was a memorable and inspiring experience for the children; commends Wendy’s motivation, infectious enthusiasm and commitment to the pupils, and wishes her all the very best for the future.
