The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Elize Bauld, of Cowdenbeath Karate Club, on achieving accolades in the British Karate Federation Four Nations championships, as well as gold at the World Youth League event; understands that the World Youth League event took place recently in Dubai, where Elize competed against a competitor from Palestine in the opening round, winning 8-0, followed by a late win over a German opponent who is ranked in the world's top 10; notes that she then won against an Italian opponent, 4-1, in the next round, leading to a semi-final win over a Romanian competitor by decision; believes that Elize competed against another German opponent in the final, with the judges awarding a 3-2 result to her, which secured the title in the 61kg Cadet Kata Female category; recognises that Elize then competed in the British Karate Federation Four Nations championships at Ravenscraig and returned home with another British title crown; notes that, prior to the events in Dubai and Ravenscraig, the club competed in Penrith in their youth championships, winning several other accolades between them; applauds the small club’s performance in the British championships and its hard work and dedication to training, preparation and performance in competitions, and extends its very best wishes to the club for continued success and for its upcoming plans for a training camp at the Cowdenbeath Gym, during which the Scottish and Moroccan national coaches will be teaching.
