Ayrshire Woman Launches Novel Following Her Own Recovery Journey

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Ayr’s Cheryl Kane on the launch of her debut novel, The Jaggy Bunnet; notes that the novel is inspired by Cheryl's own experiences of recovering from addiction and poor mental health, with the main characters telling Cheryl’s story; understands that she relocated to Ayr shortly before the commencement of the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown, after being made redundant, and that she used the lockdown as a starting point to write; further understands that she joined various groups that supported recovery, including Riverside Community Trust, where she took part in a writing group that it runs with Gaiety Creative Learning; acknowledges that Cheryl hopes that her book will change society's view on addicts and inspire others; commends Cheryl for opening up about her journey and sharing her experience in what it sees as an inspiring novel, and wishes Cheryl every success in the launch of her novel and all the best with her future.
