World Inflammatory Bowel Disease Day
The motion
That the Parliament notes that World Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Day, which unites people across the globe affected by Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, takes place on 19 May 2023; understands that over 50,000 people in Scotland live with IBD, and that it can affect every part of their life both physically and mentally; welcomes the Scottish Government's campaign to raise awareness of IBD, as part of the Modernising Patient Pathways Programme from the Centre of Sustainable Delivery, which aims to provide the right care and tailored treatment, while also leading the rest of the UK on raising public awareness of IBD; acknowledges that IBD is an invisible illness that many people struggle to cope with, and thanks all of the organisations that bring about public awareness and support those who live with IBD.
