The motion

That the Parliament recognises the contribution of Brian MacKay, who has sadly passed away, as the first national chair of the Men’s Sheds movement in Scotland; acknowledges his endeavours to bring a Men’s Shed to Helensburgh; understands what it sees as the importance of Men’s Sheds in tackling isolation and depression in older men, which often follows retirement, by creating a supportive environment; further understands that Jason Schroeder, the chief executive officer of the Scottish Men’s Sheds Association noted that Brian was one of the first trustees when the Scottish Men’s Sheds Association was initiated in 2014, and then progressed into the position of chair; commends the love for crafting that Brian shared with others and spread among his community; understands the desire for the Helensburgh Men’s Shed to come into fruition, in honour of Brian and his efforts, and offers its condolences to his family and friends.
