Poppy Murray Triumphs at Hawaiian Scottish Festival and Highland Games

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Poppy Murray, a nine-year-old highland dancer from Greenock, on her success at the recent Hawaiian Scottish Festival and Highland Games in Waikiki, topping the beginner category and coming first in the group choreography category alongside 10 of her peers from the Margaret Rose School of Dance; notes that Poppy also came sixth in the solo choreography category and was cheered on by her proud mum, Lynette, who competed as a dancer herself for over 20 years; understands that Poppy and her family got the chance to take part in local Tartan Day celebrations while in Hawaii, which marked Poppy’s first competition abroad, and wishes her all the best as she prepares to compete in a full domestic calendar of Highland Games and dancing competitions.
