New Radio Programme Highlights Stories of Returning Gaels

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of a new radio programme, Falbh is Tilleadh, which provides a platform to young Gaelic speakers to share their stories about returning to the Gàidhealtachd after a period of time away; understands that the show was created by Meghan MacLennan of BBC Radio nan Gaidheal, who herself returned home from Glasgow; recognises that the increase in opportunities to work remotely and from home are some of the many reasons why young Gaels are returning to the Gàidhealtachd; acknowledges what it sees as the threat that depopulation poses for the Highlands and Islands and other parts of Scotland, and welcomes this flagship and forward-thinking programme for promoting the stories of young Gaels, which, it believes, will help to inspire others.
