Supporting SANDS Awareness Month 2023

The motion

That the Parliament recognises that SANDS Awareness Month runs from 1 to 30 June 2023; understands that SANDS is the leading stillbirth and neonatal death charity in the UK; commends the vital work that SANDS undertakes to reduce the number of stillbirths and neonatal deaths, and the support that it provides to bereaved parents; notes with great sadness that, in 2021, the stillbirth death rate in Scotland was 3.8 per 1,000 births and the neonatal death rate was 2.8 per 1,000 births, and believes that MSPs of all parties should work together to promote SANDS Awareness Month and support the charity as it continues to work to prevent deaths and provide the best care for bereaved parents.
