Lodged by Alexander Stewart Standard Motion 35 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges Loneliness Awareness Week (LAW), which will take place between 12 and 18 June 2023; understands that, hosted by Marmalade Trust, LAW is an annual campaign that raises awareness of loneliness and aims to reduce the stigma of loneliness, as well as encouraging people to talk more openly about it; considers that Marmalade Trust is a leading loneliness charity for all ages, and, it understands, the only charity in the world specifically dedicated to raising awareness of loneliness; notes that the charity launched LAW in 2017, and believes that, with momentum reportedly growing each year, Marmalade Trust wants to encourage and assist people to see loneliness as a “blank canvas on which they can fill their lives with new friends and experiences.”
