The motion

That the Parliament notes that 24 June 2023 is Armed Forces Day, which is a day giving everyone a chance to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets; further notes that Armed Forces Day takes place on the last Saturday of each June, and that celebrations began on 19 June when the Armed Forces Day flag was raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the country; considers that showing support for the Armed Forces provides a much valued morale boost for the troops and their families, who are often on long stretches of deployment at a time; understands that the Armed Forces defend the UK and its interests, and that all members are busy working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers, providing security and fighting terrorism, and thanks every regular, reservist and veteran for keeping this island nation safe 24/7 and championing the rules-based international order, which it considers is ever so critical to peace in the 21st century.
