Dogs and Hot Weather

The motion

That the Parliament draws attention to the dangers of hot weather for dogs; reminds dog owners to pay attention to local weather forecasts during the summer, to ensure that they are walking their four-legged friends at the coolest times of the day, have plenty of water and shade available for their pet, and to never leave a dog unattended in a car; urges the public to learn the five signs of heatstroke in dogs, which are heavy panting, excess drooling, vomiting, being drowsy and uncoordinated, and collapsing, and to contact their vet immediately should their dog develop these signs, and welcomes advice provided by Dogs Trust to dog owners to help dogs stay cool throughout the summer.
