Boccia Paralympian, Jamie McCowan, Retires

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges the news that Dundonald Paralympian Jamie McCowan is set to retire following what it sees as a wealth of success; notes that Jamie is a boccia player who has represented Great Britain at the Rio and Tokyo Paralympic Games, and has won several medals at world-class events; understands that Jamie won Gold in the Pairs event at the European Championships, and that he began playing boccia in the BC4 category; further understands that he went on to win Gold at the European Championships in 2017 as an individual, and Silver in the Pairs event under the BC3 category; understands that at the World Boccia Challenger event in Poznan, in 2022, he won Gold, defeating World Champion Greg Polychronidis; acknowledges that Jamie has taken the decision to retire after his successes, to focus on coaching, and wishes him the very best with his future endeavours.
