Kilmarnock Schools Recognised with Silver Awards at Clean, Green Education Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Park School and Onthank Primary School on receiving a Silver award and a Highly Commended Silver award respectively at the second annual Clean, Green Education Awards; believes that children and young people are vital to inspiring and adopting the behaviour changes required to address climate change; recognises the parents and staff who have helped the students achieve their aspirations, including Steven Swan of Onthank and James Hamilton primary schools, who received the Outstanding Commitment and Enthusiasm for Climate Change Award; notes that Onthank Primary School was the only school to achieve Silver accreditation in the inaugural awards and was recognised with a Highly Commended Silver award for its wider works with the community, including organising litter picks and a local Climate Change Conference; recognises the main sponsors of the Clean, Green Education Awards, which are East Ayrshire Leisure, McGills Buses, Enva Waste and Vattenfall, and the partners, Keep Scotland Beautiful and Eco Schools, which play a key role in the delivery of the awards and programme respectively; congratulates each school on its success, and wishes them every success as they continue to develop and participate in programmes dedicated to addressing climate change.
