Craig Brown CBE

The motion

That the Parliament marks with sadness the death of former professional football player and manager, Craig Brown, at the age of 82; notes that Craig was the longest-serving manager of Scotland’s national team, in charge for 71 games from 1993 to 2001, and led Scotland to the 1996 Euros and the 1998 World Cup; understands that Craig played for Dundee FC and Falkirk FC; further understands that, during his managerial career, in addition to managing Scotland’s national team, he managed Clyde FC, Preston North End FC, Motherwell FC and Aberdeen FC; recognises that he served on the Board of Aberdeen FC for many years; notes that he was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1999 for services to football, and extends sympathy to all of Craig Brown’s loved ones and all those who remember him fondly at this difficult time.
