The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that one of Scotland’s oldest Scottish Women’s Institute (SWI) groups is celebrating its 90th year since being initially formed; understands that the Blairlogie and District SWI, based in Menstrie, and which meets in Menstrie Parish Church, was first founded in 1933 and now attracts a membership of around 40 members from right across Clackmannanshire; believes that a group of long-standing members were joined by some special guests for a celebratory evening meal to mark the occasion, held at Menstrie Parish Church Hall on 13 June 2023; acknowledges that the friendly group is encouraging people who may be interested in crafts, baking and many other subjects to go along and see if they would like to be part of the group; considers that the Blairlogie and District SWI takes part in various events throughout the year, including a summer outing, setting up a craft stall at Menstrie Church Christmas Fayre, and setting up tombola stalls to be displayed at the Halloween and Easter events run by Menstrie Community Council, and commends the group for its enduring, selfless and sterling work for the community.
