Chloé Brown, Scottish Animal and Pet Photographer of the Year 2023

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates an Alloa-based pet photographer, who has recently been named Scottish Animal and Pet Photographer of the Year 2023; understands that Chloé Brown started her business only three years ago, in 2020, initially as a lockdown project, but has now gone on to secure her own studio space at the town’s Glasshouse Loan; believes that Chloé, who is originally from Doune, initially only offered outdoor photoshoots for horses and dogs, but has now branched out to being able to provide professional photographs for pet owners from right across the central belt; further believes that the first award she won was with Horse Scotland, the governing body for equestrian sports, winning its Photo of the Year award; considers that a substantial award came in 2022 with the International Pet Photographer Award, which put her up against all the members of that association from all over the world; understands that Chloé joined the Master Photographers Association in 2020, and has won a number of merits from it, including the Pet Photographer of the Year 2023; notes that Chloé started doing photography in 2016, eventually going on to study it at Edinburgh College's Sighthill campus, and that, in 2020, during the first COVID-19 lockdown, she took the initiative of founding her own pet photography business; acknowledges that Chloé stresses that her work is "not just snapshots", and that "[she tries] to make them look like artwork and make them unique to show off the pet's personality", and commends her for her entrepreneurship, hard work and talent, which, it considers, have attracted so many accolades and clients.
