The Inaugural Scotland Loves Local Week Announced
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the announcement of the launching of the inaugural Scotland Loves Local Week, which will take place from 28 August to 3 September 2023; understands that this new event is to be championed by the Scotland Loves Local campaign, which, in turn, is spearheaded by Scotland’s Towns Partnership; considers that Scotland Loves Local is the campaign putting localism at the heart of Scotland, and that by “loving local”, people choose to back local businesses and build stronger communities; believes that true economic and environmental sustainability lies in local communities; considers that Scotland Loves Local can be described as the "beating heart" of positive change, which brings together the people, businesses, and community representatives who are all able to build a better future, and understands that Scotland Loves Local Week is designed as a new phase of Scotland Loves Local to mark a step-change by moving from a purely promotional campaign, born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, to the true establishment of the Scotland Loves Local project as what it sees as an enabler for Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP) to build upon and deliver its wider aims of creating better, stronger, more sustainable local places through grassroots, community engagement.
