Doune Community Woodland Group Wins Scotland's Finest Woods Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Doune Community Woodland Group on winning the Community Woodlands Award at the Scotland's Finest Woods Awards for its work at Doune Ponds in the village of Doune; understands that the Doune Ponds Nature Reserve consists of 40 acres of woodland and water, including an all-abilities path network providing easy walking access where you can see a variety of wildlife, rare fungi and wildflowers, including wild orchids; notes that the Doune Community Woodland Group began managing Doune Ponds in 2014 under an agreement with the land owners, Moray Estates, and Kilmadock Community Council; applauds the efforts of all the volunteers involved in the Doune Community Woodland Group and wishes them continued success in future, and notes that the Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards are run by the independent charity, Scotland’s Finest Woods, and aim to celebrate the contribution that woodlands can make to the people of Scotland and to its environment and economic prosperity, as well as recognise and reward the achievements of people who are working hard to support their local communities and the environment.
