Ayr’s Chloe McRoberts Receives First Class Honours Degree

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Ayr’s Chloe McRoberts on her graduation from the University of Glasgow with a first class honours degree in social work; understands that Chloe left school with no qualifications due to learning difficulties and challenges imposed by a diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); further understands that she was diagnosed with dyslexia in P3 at school, and struggled with reading, writing and numbers, finding learning difficult with no access to learning support; notes that, after withdrawing from school, she attended South Ayrshire’s Learning Shop, which helped her overcome the challenges that she faced, taking her back to basics and working on both mental and physical strength; understands that Chloe has also earned a qualification in British Sign Language and works with a disability team that will support children across various schools; considers that Chloe is a shining example to all young people and believes that her story is a positive example of overcoming adversity; applauds her achievement and commends her for all her hard work and determination, and wishes her all the best for graduation and the future.
