Carron Valley Community Woodland Commended in Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards for 2023

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Carron Valley Community Woodland on being "commended" in the Large Community Woodland Group competition within Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards for 2023; understands that the Carron Valley and District Community took ownership of 52 acres, or 21 hectares, of woodland to the east of the Carron Valley reservoir, known as the Carron Valley Community Woodland, in 2018; believes that since that time, and along with the support of expert professionals, they have developed an ecologically responsible community asset that benefits nature, residents and visitors alike; understands that, through this work, in excess of 9,000 native trees have been planted, new paths have been created, and volunteer activities, social events, and biodiversity and conservation projects have taken place with the aim of providing immediate and long-term benefits, for both nature and for people, and congratulates all involved on their significant endeavours for the community.
