Clackmannanshire Cyclists to Ride the Speyside Way for Fundraising

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that a group of cyclists from Clackmannanshire is set to ride the Speyside Way in a bid to raise money for good causes; understands that Alloa Rotarian, Scott Doyle, along with his team of Jason Frew, Stuart Hall and Samantha Hall, will undertake the challenge in early August 2023, in a bid to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Rotary International End Polio Now campaign; understands that the invaluable support, care, and guidance given by Macmillan Cancer Support and the comprehensive services that it provides to improve the lives of individuals and families facing the challenges of cancer have been the inspiration for the team embarking on this initiative, in addition to the Rotary International End Polio Now campaign, which is a major element of what it sees as a very successful global initiative striving to eradicate polio worldwide, along with Rotary International’s extensive vaccination programme and community engagement, which, it believes, is very close to achieving a polio-free world, protecting future generations from this devastating disease; understands that the group will be starting from Newtonmore on 8 August 2023 and will aim to reach Buckie four days later; considers that the Speyside Way is one of Scotland's official long-distance routes, spanning around 137km and mainly following the River Spey through picturesque scenes, and wishes the entire team all the very best in this excellent endeavour.
