The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Orkney Traditional Music Project (OTMP) on holding its successful 25th anniversary concert; understands that the Orkney Traditional Music Project was started in 1998 to revive the teaching of traditional fiddle and accordion music in Orkney; further understands that the concert was the capstone of the Project’s summer school, bringing together young musicians and adult learners to receive knowledge and tuition from expert musicians; recognises what it sees as the importance of projects passing on musical knowledge to new generations; notes that this was the first time that the Project has run its summer school since the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that the final piece performed on the night was a specially-composed 25th anniversary tune by Laura Sutherland; applauds the musicians who took part in the summer school for their participation, and thanks the tutors and volunteers from OTMP who made it possible.
