British Wool Open Selkirk Depot

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates British Wool on the official opening of its new £2.3 million depot in Selkirk, Scottish Borders; considers that this new depot marks a significant step in reinforcing British Wool's commitment to supporting sheep farmers in Scotland, and across the UK, by providing enhanced access for members to deliver fleeces, and streamlining the grading and processing of wool; recognises what it sees as the considerable investment made by British Wool in this project, demonstrating its dedication to improving the organisation's operations; believes that the opening of British Wool's new premises in Selkirk is fantastic for the Borders economy; considers that this development helps safeguard and increase local jobs, and helps to ensure the continued presence of wool processing in the Borders for years to come; notes the efforts of British Wool to lower its carbon footprint to help the UK reach net zero by 2045, and further notes what it sees as the important role that British Wool has played to the Scottish Borders' world-famous textiles industry.
