Restoration of Inverness's Famous Rose Window Begins

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the beginning of restoration works on Inverness’s iconic Rose Window; notes that the Rose Window dates back to the year 1867; understands that it was gifted by a Dingwall bookseller and featured on the gable end of the old Methodist church on Inglis Street of Inverness until the building's destruction in the 1980s to make way for the city’s new shopping centre; recognises that the restoration job of the window is being headed by the specialist, Alison Milligan ACR, and the Northumberland-based company, Iona Art Glass, and understands that the restoration project has been sponsored by the Inverness Rotary Club, and that once restored, the Rose Window is set to form part of Inverness’s new castle experience project, which is set to open in 2025 and is due to benefit from a £30 million investment from both the Scottish and UK governments.
