Benarty Bells Project Success
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates all those involved with the Benarty Bells Project, which was completed and unveiled on 27 July 2023, after being given pride of place at the entrance to Lochore Meadows Country Park; understands that the Benarty Bells were gifted to the local community after the church buildings of St Kenneth's RC Church and Lochcraig Parish Church were knocked down; recognises that Lochcraig Parish Church was completed in Glencraig in May 1904, before closing in 2000, with the congregation uniting with St Serf's Church of Scotland in 2001; further recognises that St Kenneth's RC Church opened in Glencraig in December 1924, before a fire closed it in March 2002; understands that the project has involved a lot of time and fundraising efforts from the local Bells Project Group, which was formed by parishioners from both churches, along with the heritage group and the community council; thanks the Fife Council apprentices who undertook the project, and encourages visitors to stop by and visit the Bells.
