Ellie Robertson of Bishopbriggs is BMX Race Champion

The motion

That the Parliament commends six-year-old, Bishopbriggs BMX bike champion, Ellie Robertson on her outstanding success in the sport; understands that Ellie, who joined Cumbernauld Centurions BMX Race Club a year ago at the age of five, is the only Scottish female "expert level" competitor in her age group; congratulates her on winning a string of trophies, including first place in both the Scottish Regional BMX Series 2023 and the North Region Series (England) 2023, and third place in the British National BMX Series 2023; recognises that she often competes with BMXers twice her age; applauds Ellie for being a role model to encourage other young girls into the sport; further applauds Ellie’s big brother, Jamie, aged nine, for inspiring Ellie to compete; notes that Jamie, also a BMX star, qualified for Scottish Cycling’s Race the Worlds 2023 Under 12 Mini-DH final, where he came in sixth place; praises their proud parents, Sandy and Don, for their devotion and enthusiasm to help Ellie and Jamie succeed, and wishes both siblings all the very best in future competitions.
