Scotland’s First SareeThon

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates East Dunbartonshire Ethnic Minority Forum and the Glasgow Indians group on the success of the first ever SareeThon to be held in Scotland; appreciates that the event celebrated sisterhood and women’s empowerment and was very well-attended; understands that the Saree is seen as a symbol of the Indian female all over the world and associates the wearer with their Indian culture and heritage, and wishes the organisers and participants every success for the future.
