50th Anniversary of Offshore Europe
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes Offshore Europe to Aberdeen; recognises that this is the 50th anniversary of the biennial conference, with the first edition having been held in 1973 at the University of Aberdeen; notes that tens of thousands of industry leaders are expected to attend the 2023 conference, which is taking place from 5 to 8 September at P&J Live; believes that the energy industry is important to the Scottish economy; understands that two thirds of the corporation tax raised in Scotland comes from the oil and gas sector; recognises what it sees as the growing importance of the renewable energy sector to Scotland; understands that the 2023 event has four key pillars, which are energy security, energy transition, future talent and innovative technology; commends those in the sector who demonstrate cutting-edge innovation, and wishes the organisers and all of the participants a successful gathering.
