Fundraising Success for Stonehaven Co-op

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Daniel Veltman and the Stonehaven Co-op branch on raising £830 for Co-op’s charity of the year, Barnardo’s; understands that the Co-op Group has partnered with the children’s charity to raise £5 million to support 750,000 young people aged 10 to 25 by ensuring access to basic needs such as food, helping them manage their mental wellbeing, and providing better opportunities for their future; acknowledges that, as part of the fundraising event on 25 August 2023, Daniel Veltman took part in an eight-hour sponsored silence raising £673, while colleagues ran a bottle stall and staff members dressed as superheroes, raising a further £157; understands that this partnership aims to deliver innovative new services to communities that are most in need, and to establish a youth advisory group to ensure that support is targeted to best meet the needs of young people within these communities; applauds the staff at the Stonehaven store for their fantastic support of Barnardo’s children’s charity, and wishes everyone involved every success in their charitable efforts going forward.
