Welcoming the Daffodil Quality Improvement Standards for Community Pharmacy
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the Daffodil Quality Improvement Standards for Community Pharmacy; understands that the standards have been developed by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and Marie Curie for best practice palliative and end-of-life care in community pharmacy; considers that community pharmacies are well placed to provide advice and support to people diagnosed with a terminal illness, their families and carers, without the need for an appointment, on effective and safe medications; believes that many community pharmacies already play an important role in doing so; considers that the standards aim to help pharmacy teams reflect on, and continuously improve, the provision of care and support that they provide; understands that, since its launch in May 2023, over 30 pharmacies in Scotland have signed up to the standards; further understands that both staff in the pharmacies who are signed up to the standards, and people living with a terminal illness using the pharmacies, have welcomed them; notes that the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and Marie Curie will be hosting a stall in the Scottish Parliament in the week commencing 18 September 2023, and encourages MSPs to visit the stall and promote the standards among community pharmacies in their constituencies and regions.
